This just breaks my heart and makes me MAD at the same time.

Please take a moment and check out Jen Lancaster's blog at: http://www.jennsylvania.com/ and read about the PRECIOUS POOCHES that are about to lose their homes because of ignorant people who don't like pit bulls. Now, before anyone goes apeshit on me, I know, that there are some Pits out there that are mean but I guarantee that some ass wipe trained them to be that way. But most of these animals are very tame and lovable and only because of all the media hype do they have such a bad rap. The story on Jen's blog is HORRIBLE - these poor people have to give up their dogs because their neighbors don't want them there. Both sides of the story are not posted - but from what I can tell, nothing happened to bring this on - ie the dogs didn't bite anyone or attack anyone - the neighbors just don't want them there. If it was me, I'd fight tooth and nail to protect my right to have my pooch in my house and basically tell my neighbors to "bug off" but that's just me.

Now, for those of you in Ohio - please go to this site and sign the petition that is trying to BAN ALL PIT BULLS IN OHIO!! http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/hb-568-ohio-pit-bull-ban

People - these dogs don't need to be banned - the ANIMALS that train them to be mean need to be banned. Do we need rules for owning these dogs and keeping both people and dogs safe? ABSOLUTELY. But, banning them? This will only lead to illegal underground breeding of this animals which will surely lead to even more vicious animals. Ban the thugs that use these poor souls to make them money in horrific dog fighting rings.

Ok - I'm jumping off my soapbox now - please, please check out Jens blog and then sign the petition and send it to everyone in your email box. http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/hb-568-ohio-pit-bull-ban

Thank you!!!

  1. I know, I read that the other day too. It's all about being a responsible dog owner, isn't it? If there weren't a-holes out there who train their dogs poorly and allow them to attack we wouldn't have to worry about it.

On the other hand, a little girl in my hometown had to have her entire face reconstructed after a loose pit bull got a hold of her. She was only 3 years old. She could have died.

But yeah, to put a ban on the dogs and then euthanize all of them is a little much, I think. At least they should grandfather the existing ones in.

  2. Heather - thanks for your response - I know that this one will touch a lot of nerves - and I do agree - if the dog is deemed "vicious" by a trained professional - then it should be put down - even though it's probably mean/vicious because of some stupid human. But, on the other hand, those dogs that are handled by RESPONSIBLE dog owners and are trained properly - I think they should be allowed to remain with their owners.

Of course, all of this is made worse in the media - only the "attacks" are shown.
